Seminars at the Ch\u00e2teau de Tocqueville: Thinking About and Passing On Democracy Today<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Tocqueville Foundation, in partnership with Parlons D\u00e9mocratie, organizes seminar days bringing together teachers from Normandy.<\/p>

On April 28<\/strong>, 2026<\/strong>, Fran\u00e7oise Melonio<\/strong>, Emeritus Professor at the Sorbonne, provided valuable insight into a central issue facing contemporary democracies: the crisis of trust between citizens and their representatives, in light of Alexis de Tocqueville\u2019s thought.<\/p>

This seminar followed on from the study day held on May 24, 2025<\/strong>, which also offered an immersion into Tocqueville\u2019s work.<\/p>

These training days also provided an opportunity to gain insight into the workings of the French National Assembly, thanks to the contributions of Pascale Rey-Pantz,<\/strong> Administrator at the National Assembly, and Fran\u00e7ois Duluc,<\/strong> Honorary Director, who shared their experience of the inner workings of parliamentary life, offering a concrete perspective on the functioning of French democracy in practice.<\/p>

On May 24th, the Tocqueville Foundation, in partnership with Parlons D\u00e9mocratie<\/strong> had the pleasure of welcoming a group of teachers for a unique study day at the Ch\u00e2teau de Tocqueville,\u00a0 a very symbolic place where <\/span>Democracy in America<\/span><\/i> was written.<\/span><\/p>

This special day was marked by a deep dive into the thought of Alexis de Tocqueville, guided by the illuminating insights of Fran\u00e7oise Melonio, Professor Emerita at the Sorbonne. who highlighted Tocqueville\u2019s enduring relevance to democratic governance. Fran\u00e7ois Duluc<\/strong>, Honorary Director at the National Assembly, and Pascal Rey-Pantz<\/strong> offered an insider\u2019s view of parliamentary life and the workings of French democracy.<\/p>

From November 4, 2025, to January 13, 2026<\/strong>, four exclusive sessions will bring together scholars, thinkers, <\/strong>to reflect on his enduring insights and their relevance to the challenges facing democracy today.<\/p>
