A graduate of the IEP in Paris and the ENA, he has held a number of positions in the public administration as a government advisor in the Ministry of Finance and in ministerial cabinets. He joined the private sector in 1999 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts et consignations in 2007, a position he held until 2012 before taking over the management of A\u00e9roports de Paris (ADP). He made the ADP group the world leader in airport design and operation. In 2017, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Domaine National de Chambord.
