He has served as Chair of the Government Department and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Georgetown University in Qatar. From 2008 to 2010, Dr. Mitchell was Acting Chancellor of the American University of Iraq \u2013 Sulaimani. He has published articles in\u00a0<em>The Review of Politics,\u00a0The Journal of Politics,\u00a0The Journal of Religion,\u00a0APSR<\/em>, and\u00a0Political Theory. His book,\u00a0<em>Tocqueville in Arabia: Dilemmas in a Democratic Age<\/em>, was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2013. His next book project is titled\u00a0<em>The Gentle Seduction of Tyranny.<\/em> In addition to teaching at Georgetown University, Dr. Mitchell writes on contemporary American politics.
