Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville is a lawyer and a partner in the Paris office of Jones Day, after having spent a number of years with Paris based firm Gide. He studied political sciences and law in Paris and in the United States and is admitted to the Paris and New York bars. Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville specializes in banking and financial matters.
He is active in projects promoting the heritage of Alexis de Tocqueville on democracy and human rights, and works on initiatives involving American philanthropy in Europe, in particular joint transatlantic projects in the field of philanthropy. He is the founder and President of the Tocqueville Foundation (under the auspices of Fondation Entreprendre) and of United Way Tocqueville in Paris.
