Defend democracy and nurture the transatlantic relationship, inspired by Alexis de Tocqueville’s vision

On May 24th, the Tocqueville Foundation had the pleasure of welcoming a group of teachers for a unique study day at the Château de Tocqueville,  a very symbolic place where Democracy in America was written.

This special day was marked by a deep dive into the thought of Alexis de Tocqueville, guided by the illuminating insights of Françoise Melonio, Professor Emerita at the Sorbonne. Her presentation offered a powerful perspective on Tocqueville’s relevance in understanding the foundations and challenges of democratic governance.

In the afternoon, François Duluc, Honorary Director at the National Assembly, and Pascal Rey-Pantz, shared their behind-the-scenes experience of parliamentary life, shedding light on how French democracy functions in practice.

This training day provided a valuable moment of reflection and inspiration for those who carry the vital mission of educating the citizens of tomorrow.

We warmly thank Parlons Démocratie for this enriching collaboration, as well as all the participating teachers for their commitment and the depth of their contributions.
